In S1, our pupils learn Spanish and in S2 they learn Spanish and French with a short taster unit on Italian.  In S3 and S4, learners can choose between Spanish, French and Italian at Nat 4 and Nat 5 level and are encouraged to choose two languages if they enjoy language learning.  In S5 and S6, we offer Spanish at Nat 5, Higher and Advanced Higher level and French at Nat 5 and Higher level. Any learner wishing to continue their studies in Italian can do so at neighbouring schools.

We aim to deliver lessons in a fun, inclusive and dynamic learning environment where we can share our passion for language learning to enable all learners to reach their potential.

We are proud of the diversity in our school and embrace the many languages that learners and staff speak.  We believe strongly that learning a language not only develops literacy skills in Reading, Listening, Talking and Writing, but also deepens learners’ cultural understanding and enhances skills such as problem solving and critical thinking.  A language qualification can improve career opportunities, boost confidence and provide a deeper appreciation of the world around us.
